Common Symptoms of Depression

Depression (also known as major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a mood disorder causing an incessant feeling of sadness. It can be caused by stressful life events, hormones, medications, medical problems, or genetics. While there are many different types of depression, a lot of them have similar symptoms such as:
constant feelings of sadness and/or hopelessness
irritability
loss of interest in what was normally fun activities
insomnia/ hypersomnia
constant lack of energy
unusual changes in appetite
anxiety or restlessness
unexplained aches
suicidal thoughts
If you or a loved one have experienced these symptoms for a prolonged period of time, you may want to consider speaking to a doctor. There are many treatments available to help with these symptoms, such as therapy or medications. It is important to get help as soon as possible, and the first step to recovery is recognizing you have depression.
